Wolverhampton City Council has held an event to recognise staff following positive inspection results for both children's and adult social care services.
Ofsted rated Children's Social Care Services as Outstanding for services to children in care and care leavers, while the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated adult social care services as Good. Both inspections highlighted strong and consistent support from birth through to later life.
Strengths identified in inspections
The inspections recognised several key strengths across Wolverhampton's social care services. These include strong and stable leadership, effective partnership working, and a focus on ensuring people with care and support needs receive the right help at the right time.
Inspectors also noted the council's commitment to listening and using feedback to improve services.
In children's services, Ofsted praised strong social work practice and the positive difference being made to vulnerable children and families. The quality of support provided to children in care and care leavers was highlighted, alongside the council's focus on early help and prevention.
The CQC found that adult social care services were helping people to live independently and achieve positive outcomes. Particular strengths were identified in safeguarding, partnership working and continuous improvement.
Council response
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said the inspection outcomes were important, but emphasised that "behind every report are dedicated staff who work tirelessly to support vulnerable people across our city."
Councillor Linda Leach, Cabinet Member for Adults, added that the reports demonstrate "the dedication, compassion and professionalism of staff across social care in Wolverhampton." She stated the council remains committed to building on these findings and delivering continued improvement.
