Wolverhampton City Council is consulting with families, young people and education providers on a new strategy to improve support for children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
The All Means All Inclusion Plan has been developed in partnership with education providers, health and care services, voluntary organisations, parent carers, and children and young people. It sets out the city's vision for an inclusive and sustainable system where SEND support is delivered at the right time and place.
The strategy also describes how the council and its partners will work together to transform the local SEND system.
Consultation Sessions
Three consultation sessions are scheduled for families and carers to learn more about the strategy, ask questions and share their views before the final strategy is approved.
Virtual sessions via Microsoft Teams:
- Tuesday 20 October, 11am to 12pm
- Wednesday 21 October, 7pm to 8pm
Drop-in session:
Saturday 24 October, 10am to 12.30pm at The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton, during its weekly SEND Squad session. Parents and carers are welcome to bring their children along.
To book a place at a consultation session, email nicola.harris2@wolverhampton.gov.uk with your name, which session you would like to attend, any accessibility requirements, and whether you plan to attend the drop-in session with a child or young person.
Young People's Consultation
HY5!, the city's SEND Forum for young people aged 11 to 25, is hosting a separate consultation event for young people with SEND on 3 November at Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub. Bookings are available via Eventbrite.
An easy read survey is also available for anyone to share their views and experiences on the proposed strategy.
Deadline
The consultation on the draft All Means All SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2027 to 2029 continues until Sunday 8 November. Further information and the survey are available on the council website.
