Wolverhampton City Council's Fostering for Wolverhampton team will hold a series of recruitment events throughout September to encourage residents to become foster parents.
The team will meet people face-to-face across the city and offer online information sessions. Attendees will be able to ask questions, hear from experienced foster parents and learn about the support available to new carers.
Who can foster?
There is no single type of foster parent. People from all backgrounds and walks of life can foster, whether they are single, married, working, retired, renting or own their own home. The council says what matters most is the ability to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment for a child.
Support available
Foster parents receive a regular fee and allowance when caring for a child, dedicated training, ongoing support and access to a local fostering community.
Fostering through the council helps children stay connected to their schools, friends and communities, providing stability and continuity at a time when they need it most.
September events
Drop-in events will take place at the Wulfrun Centre and St John's Retail Park. An online information session will also be available. Anyone interested can attend informally, speak to foster parents and find out more about the application process, training and support.
