Bilston Memory Café has marked its fourth year of operation as a free support group for people living with dementia and their families, friends and carers.
The café is run by Bilston and Willenhall Lions and meets on the second Tuesday of every month at Bilston Sports and Social Club on Wellington Road, Bilston, between noon and 2pm.
What the café offers
The monthly meetings give people living with dementia, their families and carers the chance to meet others with the condition, share experiences and learn about available support. Refreshments and food are provided.
Attendance is free for all carers and people living with dementia.
Council and volunteer support
Councillor Linda Leach, Cabinet Member for Adult Services at the City of Wolverhampton Council, attended the café and noted that several memory cafés operate across Wolverhampton.
"Bilston Memory Café is free for all carers and people that suffer with this dreadful illness, and we want as many people as possible to come along," Councillor Leach said.
Stuart Richmond from Bilston and Willenhall Lions said the café relies on volunteers from the Lions and other individuals. "We run on the second Tuesday of every month, and everybody is welcome," he added.
