Wolverhampton City Council has completed resurfacing work on Chapel Ash island and Ring Road St Georges, between Bilston Road and Birmingham Road, extending to Snow Hill. The work forms part of the council's £10 million highways investment programme for 2026/27.
Additional Works Completed Alongside Resurfacing
Council teams carried out kerb repairs, drainage clearance, sign cleaning, guard rail repairs, weeding, and tree maintenance during the resurfacing projects. Permanent pothole repairs were also completed on the opposite side of Ring Road St Georges.
The council coordinated these additional works with the main resurfacing to reduce the need for separate temporary road closures and minimise disruption to road users.

Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, Cabinet Member for City Transport, said the completion of the two schemes demonstrates the council's continued investment in improving roads across Wolverhampton. He added that the joined-up approach allows multiple improvements to be delivered at the same time, making better use of resources.
More Work to Come
Further resurfacing projects will continue across the city over the coming weeks, alongside additional coordinated street works.
