Wolverhampton City Council is hosting a series of free Love Your Community fun days across the city in July and August, giving residents the chance to enjoy activities, meet local organisations and share ideas for their neighbourhoods.
Four main events will take place on consecutive Wednesdays, each running from 11am to 2pm:
A fifth event with an eco and sustainability focus will take place earlier, on Wednesday 22 July at St Chad's Play Space, Lime Street, also from 11am to 2pm, organised in conjunction with the council's Green Cities team.
What's on offer
All events are free to enter. Activities will include a bouncy castle, face painting, sports and games, arts and crafts, and gardening. Advice and support stalls will be staffed by partners including the City of Wolverhampton Council, community organisations, charities, the police and other service providers.
Visitors will be encouraged to share what they value about their local community and suggest ideas for improvements in their neighbourhoods.
Background
Love Your Community fun days were held last summer and proved popular with residents. Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: "We first held these Love Your Community fun days last summer and they proved hugely successful, giving residents the chance to come together, have fun, learn more about what's happening locally, and share ideas which could improve their neighbourhood."
He added: "This year's events will once again include a wide range of activities and information, so I'd encourage residents of all ages to come along, get involved and make the most of what's on offer."
