More than 21,000 Wolverhampton residents have registered for the Citizen Access Portal, the council's online service for managing accounts and accessing information outside office hours.

The portal launched last year and allows residents to view Council Tax bills, sign up for paperless billing, check account balances and payment instalments, and access Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support information. Users can also submit claims and report changes in circumstances through the portal.

What the portal offers

Residents can receive email notifications when bills and account updates are available, removing the need to wait for post. The 24-hour access means people can manage their council accounts at times that suit them.

Councillor Sally Green, Cabinet Member for Resources, said the uptake demonstrates residents are embracing online council services. She added that the council is maintaining traditional routes for those who prefer them.

Using the portal also supports environmental goals by reducing printing and postage costs, the council said.

How to register

Residents who want to register or find out more can visit the Citizen Access Portal online.
