National Grid will carry out infrastructure improvement works on sections of Wolverhampton's Ring Road between Tuesday 1 September and Sunday 4 October. The work will involve temporary traffic measures including lane closures and occasional road closures affecting the Broad Street junction.
The works are phased across two main sections: Ring Road St Patrick's and Ring Road St David's. Specific restrictions run on different dates throughout the period, with Ring Road St David's affected for most of the works.
Traffic restrictions timeline
Ring Road St Patrick's will have restrictions from Tuesday 1 September to Wednesday 2 September. Ring Road St David's restrictions begin on Wednesday 2 September and continue in phases through to Sunday 4 October, with breaks between some phases.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys, follow signed diversion routes and consider alternative routes where possible during the works.
Council monitoring and enforcement
City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Transport, Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, said utilities companies are responsible for more than two thirds of roadworks in Wolverhampton. The council will monitor the impact of National Grid's work to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and will use enforcement powers, including issuing fines, where companies fail to meet their obligations.
