Wolverhampton City Council has announced a series of Christmas events across the city, with the main lights switch-on taking place in Victoria Street on Saturday 21 November.
The city centre event begins at 3pm with a funfair, free face painting, food and drink. Children's characters from Toy Story and Elf on the Shelf will be present throughout the afternoon.
Live stage performances will feature Big Arena Performing Arts School, The Ronnies, Masti Music, The People's Show Choir, and Callum Doignie from The Voice, who will perform festive hits. At 6pm, the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Paul Singh, and Father Christmas will switch on the lights.
Other switch-on events across Wolverhampton
Christmas lights will also be switched on in Wednesfield, Tettenhall, and Bilston, each with family activities, free face painting, live music, and children's character appearances. Father Christmas and the Mayor will attend each switch-on, alongside entertainment from Wolverhampton's Dicky Dodd.
Additional festive events
A free family festive fun day will take place at Bantock House on Saturday 5 December between 11am and 4pm, featuring live music from the Bluebird Belles, Christmas craft stalls, and family activities.
Bilston will host a Christmas Village next to the new Outdoor Bilston market from 26 to 29 November and 3 to 6 December. The village will include Christmas treat stalls, handmade gifts, unique Christmas products, fairground rides, marshmallow toasting, and free face painting.
Councillor Stephen Simkins, City of Wolverhampton Council Leader, said the lights switch-on events are free occasions that attract thousands of families each year. The Bilston Christmas Village is funded by the Pride in Place Programme, which is backed by Government funding of £20 million over the next decade.
