Wolverhampton City Council has launched a new campaign called Think Before You Drink - Punjabi Voices to address alcohol-related harm affecting the Punjabi community. The project was unveiled at an event on Monday 20 July, with councillors and the local MP in attendance. Discussions at the event covered how alcohol affects the community, barriers to accessing support, and ways to reduce stigma.
How the campaign will work
The campaign will be shaped by the Punjabi community themselves through focus groups and co-development sessions. It will produce awareness videos, social media content, posters and resources featuring QR codes that link to local support services.
The project also aims to train Community Health Champions in faith and community settings and improve access to local health services.
Get involved
A focus group is scheduled for Wednesday 29 July at Bob Jones Community Hub from 1.15pm to 2.45pm. Community members are invited to help shape the campaign. Those interested can register through Eventbrite.
