Wolverhampton Sports Advisory Council has opened nominations for its annual sports awards, celebrating the achievements and contributions of amateur sportspeople and organisations across the city.
Winners in each category will receive a certificate, a commemorative citation and a trophy. The Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Paul Singh, will present the awards at a special ceremony in November.
Award categories
Nine categories are open for nomination: Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Disabled Player/Athlete, Under-21 Volunteer, 50 Years a Team/Club/League, Community Club of the Year, Team/Club/League of the Year, Veteran (over 65 years of age) and the Award of Merit.
The awards sub-committee will also consider the strongest nominations for discretionary honours not open to public nomination: the HE Lane OBE Memorial Award, RV Cook Memorial Trophy, Ted Hayward Memorial Trophy and the Jeff Coleman Memorial Trophy.
Who can be nominated
All nominees must be amateur participants and members of a Wolverhampton-based team, club, league or sporting association.
Organisers are asking nominators not to inform people of their nomination, to maintain an element of surprise. Successful nominees will be invited to attend the ceremony without being told the category in advance.

Anyone wishing to submit a nomination should email WSAC Secretary Anona Hickin at [email protected] to request the nomination form. The closing date for nominations is Monday 10 August 2026.
